Rent a three-channel SDI extender pair

HRE uses the Blackmagic 2110 IP Converter 3x3G as a practical point-to-point extender for live events. Put one unit at each end of a Cat6 cable to carry three 3G-SDI signals in each direction simultaneously.

For example, send camera feeds toward front of house while returning program, confidence or other production feeds to the stage. This reduces the number of separate cable runs between those locations while keeping SDI connections at the equipment.

Two endpoints, one planned link

Request two converters for a complete point-to-point link. Tell HRE the route length, cable type and signal formats so the link can be planned for a reliable 10GbE connection. Each endpoint needs power; a direct connection between two units does not supply PoE power to the other unit.

These converters also support integration into a designed SMPTE ST 2110 network. For that use, include your network, timing and routing requirements in the rental request.

Build the package around Panasonic PTZ cameras, Ross Carbonite Ultra switching or Blackmagic Videohub routing. HRE can help scope the additional equipment and support.

Yes. With a 3x3G converter at each end, the 10GbE link carries three supported HD video channels in each direction simultaneously. Tell HRE which feeds travel in each direction when requesting the pair.

A direct connection between compatible converters does not require an Ethernet switch. Networked ST 2110 deployments have additional switching, timing and routing requirements that should be included in the system design.

For an SDI-to-SDI point-to-point link, request two units: one at each location. Confirm the cable, power and accessory requirements with HRE; the page does not imply that every individual unit rental includes a complete pair.

Share the total cable length, cable construction and any patch points. The link must sustain 10GbE, so HRE should confirm the cable plan rather than applying a blanket distance to every Cat6 installation.

The 3x3G model supports HD up to 1080p60. Specify any UHD or 12G-SDI requirement separately so the correct equipment can be selected.

Send the dates, number of point-to-point links, feeds in each direction, resolutions, frame rates, cable routes and available power. For a networked deployment, also include the switch, PTP and routing plan.
